I graduated from Zapata High School in May 1989. I had already begun to take college classes during my senior year, so I went directly to college after graduation. I spent 2 years attending Laredo Junior College, as it was called at the time. After those 2 years, I applied to the University of Houston and I was accepted. I was there for 4 years and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After graduating from U of H, I returned home and applied for my Master’s degree at Texas A&M International University. My Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology was completed in 3 years.

I have attended many professional development trainings in several areas including technology, English, Language Arts, Writing, and ESL.
I began teaching at USHS in 2016/2017. This is my 23rd year as a teacher. I currently teach English III and English IV.
I began teaching at LBJ High school in 2001 when it opened. I spent 5 years there and then transferred to GWMS where I taught in a self contained classroom for 10 years. After GWMS, I transferred here to USHS.
I have worked with the deaf, the chemically dependent, the mentally ill, and with special needs students. I am very fluent in both English and Spanish, and I know conversational sign language.
I m a single parent of two daughters age 15 and 17. Both of my daughters are students here at USHS. I currently have 1 cat, Church, 2 huskies named Icee and Storm, and a golden retriever named Finn.
I love to read and I do every chance I get! I love to hear, tell, and read about ghost stories. I also enjoy sewing, writing, making jewelry, and spending time with my family.
